Skylars Blog

Skylar wants her own blog, and at age 2 I think she is too little..But after many a temper tantrum, I decided to let her use mine as her outlet. Here is her first entry.....

* I eat popcorn. Im going to Disneyland. I want to go on horses and get on the piggies. I want to see Aladdin show! I want to go on a rocket ship and go to the moon. I want to go on choo choo trains. I love my choo choo trains! They have one at the Disneyland. My mom does my blog. I get to visit daddy and gramma Debbie. I get to stay at daddys house for the summer and he makes my bunk bed. I want to see the piggies and horses with daddy.

THE END.*

I must be stopped!!

I am on a very sappy romantic movie kick and cant stop buying them!! My mother and I have even deemed Wednesday night, GIRLS MOVIE NIGHT in my living room, while eating Weight Watchers fudgebars (for only 3 points a piece). I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I miss having my lover and friend. I miss the closeness, the romance, the wonderful stories we created...So I have to live vicariously thru fake people and fake stories. At any rate, Im a freak, and I know it. Someday my prince will come.....Then I can sell my movies in a garage sale. *Teehee.* Until then, bring on the tissues and fudgebars!

*Do you ever have moments of sappy weakness?
*Have you tried the Weight Watchers fudgecicles? (They are delish!)
*Any recommendations for great love stories?

SPT!!

We were given our Self Portrait Tuesday assignments for the entire month of May. A very cute idea, so I can focus more intently on what I wish to post in advance. She went with a theme this month of SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE...(four things for four tuesdays.)

MY SOMETHING OLD:

I had the great opportunity to see the Spruce Goose last November for its 60th anniversary since its one and only flight back in 1947 (OLD PLANE). They suggested you show up in true 40's fashion for the occassion. I was decked to the hilt and loved every minute of it. The picture has me wearing authentic OLD 1930's jewelry and purse. The hairstyle I am wearing is from an OLD book of vintage pinups, and I would have won that contest had I not been in the giftshop at the time. Grr..LOL. I am so glad to have made that a part of my memories.

The Scales dont lie....

One of my fave shows on vh1 is Celebrity Fit Club..Aside from laughing at celebutards swearing and sweating, I often find myself motivated to get skinny myself. Today I have decided to start eating healthier (adapting to a weight watchers diet) and doing some walking. I just got back from the Pavillion with a few sacks full of veggie snacks and other necessary items. My mother has joined me in the quest for smaller pant sizes, so she and I will be weighing in every week to document our loss. Im starting off at 180 pounds and want to be at least down to 160 by the end of summer. If anybody else needs some encouragement or motivation to get healthy and shed some pounds, please join us! I would love to hear your goals and see your progress. We can all be a great support system to each other. ;oP

Contimplating the Classics...

I have had the great fortune of submerging myself into classic literature since bombarding my parents at Edwards Manor. Partly because I wished to learn of those esteemed writers which my almamater didnt see fit to bestow upon we students as part of our educational upbringing...Partly because I needed an escape during my time of desperation when I felt compelled to give into my torment. (See! Im influenced by them already, in verse! Ha!)

Lately I have bec ome intimately aquainted with Jane Austens "Pride and Prejudice" and Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights." Both classics held in high regard. I have to say that I much prefer Jane Austen at this point and see nothing great about the latter.

I adored Pride and Prejudice, and feel very fondly for the characters presented. The writing was very well done, and thank heavens for the guide at the bottom of the book which translated a lot of the words no longer used today. If there was only one complaint to give, it would be merely due to my own jealousy. How is it possible that a houseful of country marms with neighbors wonderfully spread out, could still find many a rich young suiter to entertain thoughts of courtship and marriage? I cant find a single man interested to look my way in a large town with people who happen by my house by the hundreds daily. Humph! (LOL)

Wuthering Heights was a wonderfully done movie..And thank heavens for that, because I made it thru the book, barely. I did enjoy the movie a great deal as a youth (being a hopeless romantic and all,) but the the characters are and still remain today; whiney, sadistic, masochistic, juvenile, spoiled, and rotten to every core. There wasnt a single redeeming character to be had! Even the heroes of the story were in need of a good switch beating. Was this truly the way of life for these people? I hope not! Again, amidst the moors and harsh countryside, there was still love found between these men and women, despite the isolation. I just dont buy it...No wonder they needed to wed cousins.

My next adventure takes me to Charles Dickens "Great Expectations"..Wish me luck in my journey. I do love to read, tho it takes me from my chores. A task which my father repeatedly reminds me of its neglect.

Ta!

Gratitude...or something like it

Its Thankful Thursday! Time to reflect on all things groovy. This week has been fabulous. Ive been to Disneyland, the Beach, taken walks, been in the gorgeous sunshine, and read some fabulous classic novels. Ive also eatin way more then is necessary, so I need to get on the ball and walk it off, before that 16 pounds creeps back into my life. Here are a few more things Im thankful for:

Disney California

Yesterday we planned to hit Disney California right after the kids got out of school (its only 20 minutes up the road, and we had to use our second hopper pass..) So when the time came, we got excited to see the Aladdin Show, A Bugs Life, the Monsters Inc Ride, Tower of Terror, the River Ride, etc....We got there and it was still pretty crowded, but found no lines to be had at the River Ride..WAHOO! Eric LOVED that ride and got super soaked. We then ventured over to the Bugs Life area for some cute kiddie rides (we got on 5 rides immediately) that Skylar and Erin absolutely loved. Next we decided to go to the Tower of Terror (I hadnt been on it before, and Eric was a major thrill seeker by this point.) We again, encountered no lines..AMAZING! The ride was beyond awesome. Once we got back to the ground, however, we noticed the park was pretty thinned out. WTF? Come to find out it closes at 6pm...UGH! We barely spent 2 hours there before having to leave. The girls were disappointed because they couldnt see the Aladdin Show and the rides closed up after our Terror trip. Some highlites, tho, were getting them Mickey and Minnie hats with their names on the back, and seeing (supposedly) John Stamos at the bathroom...(we saw Nick Lachey at Disneyland last Saturday.) Afterward we ventured to Red Robin for some grub (I HIGHLY recommend the Whiskey Chicken Wrap,) and took the kids home by 8pm, sacked out. Now I have to scrounge up more money so I can take them back before Skylar spends the summer with her dad. We cant miss the Aladdin show again!
