I had the opportunity to attend this years Huntington Beach Midsingles conference, and it was outstanding! I had so much fun. I was privileged to meet people from New Zealand, Australia, France, Russia, the Czech republic, New York, Arizona, etc...It was amazing. Here are a few high lites.
FRIDAY- My friend Ami from Camarillo came to stay with me. We registered and met a lady who would then call me Sassy the entire weekend. We danced to the cool tunes of my friend Jon McFerson (dj), speed dated, played rock Band, fake surfed, and socialized!
SATURDAY- Breakfast and off to workshops! We had three workshops to attend each lasting 35 minutes. My favorite was listening to Pres. Monson give the talk "Proclamation to the Family...and how it applies to the singles"...It was hysterical to listen to. He is a very passionate and comedic speaker. After ward we ate a great Tri Tip steak lunch and headed to the beach! That night we ate Mexican food and finally headed to a concert where we watched The 80's All Stars..They were an ok band, but the married bassist was very flirty with me, and at one point attempted to even grind with me on stage... Figures..The crowd was HUGE.Ive never seen so many people dancing, singing, and crowd surfing! We had a blast...
SUNDAY- An amazing sabbath! The speakers were wonderful and hilarious. My favorite quotes came from a bishop who decided his theme for the midsingles of "If you like it, you better put a ring on it" was just as good as "True to the Faith"..(the title they ultimately decided on.) He then proceeded to say he was impressed with the amount of diverse people showing up, ranging from 40 year old virgins to people who who have had multiple marriages..(ME ME). Then he couldnt stop himself from an embarrassing snowball effect of talking about the movie "The 40 year old virgin", which was so off the wall for sacrament meeting (being rated R and all), he finally had to stop and ask how he was to get off the stand? ..The next speaker stood up and shook his head, "How do I follow up after that?" We were dying with laughter. After such a crazy sacrament, we were blessed to hear the Orange County Mormon Choir (mini MoTab)in an intimate setting..I had goosebumps and the spirit definitely returned to the meeting. It was gorgeous.
I cant wait for next year!
